What is the best time to visit Panama?

The best time to visit Panama is during the dry season, from mid-December to April, when you’ll enjoy plenty of sunshine and ideal weather for exploring the Panama Canal, beaches, rainforests, and vibrant city life.

That said, the green season (May to November) also has its charm — with lush scenery, fewer crowds, and great value. It’s perfect if you’re looking for a more relaxed and nature-filled experience.

What currency is used in Panama?

Our Panamanian balboa (PAB) is equal in value to the US dollar (USD). Since its introduction in 1904, the balboa has been pegged to the US dollar at a one-to-one exchange rate. Both currencies are used interchangeably in Panama, with the balboa existing in coin form while the US dollar is used for paper currency. This means that in Panama, prices are typically quoted in dollars, and US dollar bills are commonly used for transactions..

Is it easy to get a local SIM card in Panama during my visit?

Yes, getting a local SIM card in Panama is easy and affordable! The two most common providers are Más Móvil and Tigo. You can purchase a SIM card from these providers at most convenience stores throughout Panama, and recharging it only takes a couple of dollars. Recharges can also be done online or through the provider’s app, making it convenient to stay connected throughout your trip.
