What currency is used in Panama?

Our Panamanian balboa (PAB) is equal in value to the US dollar (USD). Since its introduction in 1904, the balboa has been pegged to the US dollar at a one-to-one exchange rate. Both currencies are used interchangeably in Panama, with the balboa existing in coin form while the US dollar is used for paper currency. This means that in Panama, prices are typically quoted in dollars, and US dollar bills are commonly used for transactions..

We´d be glad to help you as needed and customers booking tours with us can save up to 30% on rooms as we have great relationships with local hotels.

Is it easy to get a local SIM card in Panama during my visit?

Yes, getting a local SIM card in Panama is easy and affordable! The two most common providers are Más Móvil and Tigo. You can purchase a SIM card from these providers at most convenience stores throughout Panama, and recharging it only takes a couple of dollars. Recharges can also be done online or through the provider’s app, making it convenient to stay connected throughout your trip.
